Pastor Sanders received his calling to the ministry when he was in his teens, but didn't accept it until he was 21. God has used him in several different areas during his 16 years of ministry. He owes a great deal of his ministry to his pastor of 16 years, Rev. John O Poe, who went on to his reward in August of 2002.

He met his wife, Melissa, at a youth meeting in 1992 and they now have 3 beautiful girls. They lived in Texas most of their lives, but he always had a desire to fulfill his ministry elsewhere. The Lord placed a call upon his life to come to Alaska in 2002. The church here in Anchorage was pastored by two men, Michael Fleming and Michael Gurley. The Fleming's moved to Arizona and then the Gurley's moved to Washington a few short months later.

The Sanders' became the pastor on July 23, 2003 and have not looked back. Growth and revival is his focus. He attended Texas Bible College through its ExCell course. He is currently serving on the Alaska-Yukon Home Missions Board as Area Home Missions Representative and has recently been appointed as the Global Impact Director for this District.

From the Pastor....

I am glad you took time to check out our website. We would love for you to visit us and hopefully feel a desire to become part of our church family. If you are looking for a place to worship or raise your family, then I believe there is a place waiting for you at the GAP.

The GAP stands for Greater Anchorage Pentecostal Church. In Ezekiel 22:30, the Lord is looking for someone to "stand in the GAP for the land" but was unable to find anyone. My prayer is that this church can be a bridge builder for the gap between God and mankind. We are a multicultural church with several different ministries to meet the needs of culture-specific people.

Many people have found their new life and new beginning here at Greater Anchorage Pentecostal. Our services are designed to be uplifting and encouraging, yet ministering to your need of healing and salvation. Our goal is that you will NOT leave the same way you came.

It is with great anticipation that I invite you to our next service. Come on in and see what the Lord has waiting for you at the GAP Church.

In His Service,
Pastor Steven Sanders
